Our Story
Agentic AI Hub was born from a simple observation: Foreign tech companies were increaingly approaching africa for talent through various recruitment platforms; Tana, Turing, Tunga, Andela.
As AI continued emerging from the watershed moment with ChatGPT in 2022, Our Director, Steve Otieno started exploring opportunities AI would bring and gaps it would create.
We first identified Agentic AI as a low hanging fruit as it uses intelligence from existing models to integrate them into various application areas.
We also identified gaps in skills- the need for skills to innovate in AI technologies, Data- the lack of Data and the need to collect data for creating AI systems that resonate with our local context. Infrastructure also become a pain point which we have since worked to identify inference providers as an afordable way to get compute. Backed by Nvidia's september 2025 paper on SLM's are the future of agentic AI we also strive to create smaller specialised models to for agentic use cases and for our local african context
